Rotorua Airport is Always Open
Rotorua Airport will always remain open to support essential services through all Alert Levels. Our focus during all Alert Levels is to support essential travel and to enable the travelling public, friends and whānau to get to where they need to be.
Airport operations and entry may be restricted (during Alert Levels 3 and 4 only) to supporting a limited domestic passenger network delivering essential travel, medical flights and aviation activity and support relating to key government agencies. Key staff, such as fire and rescue crews, will continue to be on site to ensure that the Airport remains operational.
The safety of our staff, and those who are having to use the airport for essential travel, is a priority. We’ve taken extra measures, including increased cleaning, to protect people and we’ve activated our business continuity plan to ensure that we can continue to remain operational for key flights if and when they are needed, such as medical flights.
Our priority is the health, well-being, safety and security of our people, customers and community, safe and sterile public / terminal facilities and continuity of key airport services. We are and will continue to actively track and closely monitor the evolving COVID-19 situation working closely with the Lakes District Health Board, the border agencies and the wider airport community to proactively manage the public health risk. Thank you in advance for your patience and understanding during this time.
